That's how it was delivered to your house...? Not a fan of that! My LoD sliders were secured to a custom wooden frame and then placed inside a cardboard box. I'd be pissed, based on the condition that boxes arrive at my house, if I paid that much for a carrier and they didn't even wrap it... Hope your delivery was gentler than mine!

It's basically a hunk of steel. I would hope it could handle more than the shipping can do to it. Lord knows its in for a rough life. :)
But yea that's how it was shipped.

It is raw and not powder coated yet, so there would be no damage to the finish. And its a serious hunk of steel so doubt theyll be able to do any actual damage to it. Enjoy the tire carrier, cant wait to get mine!

Yeah, but its long and heavy (that's what she said) so if they start tossing it around, it could easily deform under its own weight, even if only slightly. Which would make fitment that much harder. Once its bolted in place it tough as nails, but when its not anchored, it CAN deform. Glad it didn't though.

And as a side note... The half assed paint job with rusty welds on the NEW LoD sliders I got could hardly be even called a powder "coating". Maybe more of a dusting. When I called them about it, they said the welds are hard to coat and they touch them up with a spray can before they ship. He said mine must have missed that step and told me to touch it up myself... Not the greatest customer service, but aside from the slight surface rust, they are beefy as hell!

I didn't get the c pillars. Due to buying the EVO rear tire carrier, and it having the tall top loop. I have seen them in person though. I really believe that they are not needed. It's a short cage on the back, if you run this after market tire carrier, I don't see the back crushing down. Maybe if you still have your spare on the body, but still the center section is very strong on the jk.

Interesting about the rear tire carrier. I hadn't though my about that. I think the Cs are appealing simply because it would be relatively cheap insurance for the precious cargo we all run in the back seat. :)

Started installing the cage. Got the front part done. Just need to trim some plastics and put on the rear bar.
All I'm going to say is this cage is not for the unskilled. I've installed several cages and this was the hardest. Some of the instructions were left out or vague. There is a butt load of work to do it right. Also. The cutting and wielding is not mirrored on both sides. I understand that there are lots of welds and connections and it's hard to make it perfect with out building it for the specific jk.
On a positive note I am 100% certain that this cage will take a multi roll over and still hold up.
Overall I'm very happy with the strength of the cage, and the look. They did a good job of bringing everything together. I would suggest this cage to someone looking for more than a standard bolt in and less than a full welded cage.

Have to install raw at first. In case you have to shave some parts of it. Taking the side and rear rock skins with the cage to get gloss blk to match the jeep. The stinger, front bumper, and sliders are getting rattle canned due to the continuous bashing they will receive.

Along those lines, I plan to keep all damageable surfaces black (bumpers and sliders) so they are easy to touch up with a spray can. Things that won't wear as easily I'll use an accent color on. Just my two cents from a corrosion/ease of maintenance standpoint.

Such a nice build top to bottom...clearly well thought out. Nice work! I love the third brake light idea but agree you need to use something to get an even spread of the light so the EVO logo shows up well. Can't wait to see what you come up with. Maybe a small led strip running vertically down each side of the EVO lettering and facing inward would give you an even spread without having any individual light shine brightly directly through the lettering? No hot spots but an even "glow" would look cool. I hope that makes sense.

I definitely like the integration of the EVO logo being used as the 3rd brake light hiding position, in fact it's what I had been planning on using since I first saw that carrier years ago. Unfortunately, i don't even have the EVO carrier yet :( I'm surprised no one has done this idea sooner, but you get the thumbs up. I also found this possibility of another option just in case I was not happy with trying to back light the EVO logo like you are doing. Search down at the bottom of this linked page. $26.00 for dual use led license plate bolt lights
http://www.customdynamics.com/illuminatorz_licence_plates.htm#LED_Tag_Bolts
I love all these light mods. Guess I need to work on my electrical skills so I don't burn down my jeep.
still think if you could figure out how to put the brake lights, turn lights, and backup lights in the three holes on the rack on each side it would look bad ass i would try it but first i need a tire carrier........:grayno:

The 3 holes on the carrier are angles 45 deg from the back. You would not be able to see the lights very well.

Thank you. They set somewhat snug against the body. Its hard to use them as a step. The top is round and can be slippery. I'm going to put some skate board grip tape along the top to aid in traction. If your going for hard wheeling with lots of rocks then you will not go wrong. The LOD sliders are very nice and also have a step built onto them. Good luck with your build. Also I have to carry a step ladder for my mom to get in. :D

If you need more of a step give EVO a call. I believe they used to allow customers to order the sliders with less of a tight angle to the body. Not positive you can still do it, but it's worth the call as these sliders really are nice.

X2. Really like my LoD sliders. Great protection, beefy, and built in step for my wife. Steps also come in handy when you need roof/windshield access while washing, removing panels, etc... While the EVO ones are nice, the LoD ones are far more practical on the DD.

Take your time. Clamp the skin at the post between the passenger and driver door. Do those 6 holes. Insert the nutzerts, and mount the skin. Then clamp the rear and do those. Then work your way to the front. I'd find the nutzert tool. Follow the instructions, They are vague in some of the instructions. If you have any questions you can call or text me 702-513-5322. Ricky.

They come bare metal. I cleaned the metal with prep to clean it. Self etching primer then bought the factory color match spray cans. I abuse and use my jeep, so I know it's going to have rock rash and the paint is going to get scraped off. I did not want to spent any money in powder coating just to knock it off. Everything I bought came bare from EVO. The rear tire carrier and frame rails are just flat blk rattle can. :)

Self etching primer
Heat up the metal before spraying to help harden the paint. Powder coating is more durable.... You have the option to just respray if damaged. Also when you chip powder coat you have a chance of rusting under it.

Love to hear what you think of them. I was running the 35" Falkens and traded to KM2's for comparison. I caught grief for running a "street tire" but never really saw anyone else doing much better on MT's. I did gain MPH though but I think loss of mph is a fair trade for sidewall strength. I've seen three guys cut a sidewall this summer and every time it was a KM2.
The one time I felt I was at a disadvantage on Falkens was in John Bull. It was raining and they packed up with wet sand. I didn't feel the other rigs really had a big advantage though as the other 35's were having issues as well.

Skirmish. I don't think that their will be a monster difference. I researched the tires and not one bad thang to say about them. The km2's have really weak side walls. But that helps with them flexing and getting into the cracks to grab. but I'll let you know what I think of them. I already like the much quieter ride, I forgot how quite a jeep can be. :)

Looking good Kraken.. I'm actually thinking I might have to go with the Nitto tires. My BFG s are chunking way to bad... I'm watching MTG and FoxC s to see how they wear. Might shoot BFG a email to see if my batch had a compound issue or something.

I don't think you got a bad set. Mine chunked up real bad also. Toyos and nittos are great tires. Thanks for the complement. Now comes the EXPENSIVE mods. :( 1ton axels.

Just ordered 4.10 gears. The taller tires are making the 3.21's kill the clutch.
Got both front/rear ring/pinion Plus both carriers for 160 shipped. :)

Will do. I plan on breaking at least the driver side axel, as far as them bending I hope they hold out. I should have the 60's within a year.
