I am fairly new to WAYALIFE but not to other Jeep forums or the Jeep world in general. I'm on the market for a new JK and while looking through some local dealer listings, I found this..
http://www.courtesyaltoona.net/new/Jeep/2014-Jeep-Wrangler-a03ea9a90a0a00de1abd187441ee775a.htm

Now I have honestly never heard of RR but after seeing some of their builds and the fact that they are not far from where I live, I am quite interested. I drove the Jeep last night and loved it. A lot nicer ride than my TJ was. Today I'm heading back down to buy it.

Anyone have any views on it? What do you guys think?

Well for that price I would get a Rubicon. The gearing is 3:73. If I looking at it right in the option column. On 35" it will be ok power wise but not the best. Also the front axle is only a Dana 30. If you wheel hard you will end up replacing. Just something to think about

I've seen pics of their skid plates bent to shit from a nominal hit at best so I'm generally not a fan of their products.

What's with the sig on the dash? That would drive me crazy.

yea for the price of of that it doesnt seem like a good deal. doesnt look like 10K in upgrades either. also i believe that river raider is bigger in the TJ market more than JK so im not sure how good some of there stuff is.

I guess If it were me, I would find out what a stock jeep in your area would cost and then break down the RR package and see if it is worth the 10k.
Assuming you are happy with the bumpers on it and the look of the steel fenders- otherwise I would take a stock jeep- add 1500 for tires, buy bumpers 1500-1800, trim the factory fender flares, d rings $60, rims $1000, Aev pro Cal $200, led lights $200. The lift I am assuming is a spacer lift- get the evo leveling kit $239. $5100.
With the RR the work is done already, but ask yourself, is that how you would build it?
I would suggest adding C gussets to the front axle.

It's overpriced for a base model with a couple add-ons. You could build one for far less or get a rubicon model. :twocents:

That is the builders name. They supposedly "hand build" these Jeeps in a small shop and he signs the ones he builds. Not really a selling factor to me. I'd like to clean it off actually.

After driving it, I'm satisfied with the gears. That was a big doubt in my mind, but then again I am used to driving a 100+/- hp Toyota pickup with 31" MT/r's. The setting of the A/C makes the difference weather I make it up a hill or not. I figured I would C gusset the front knuckles and drive it. I'm not wheeling it to be exact right now. I am in the financial situation to afford it, not go breaking things. So it will just be driven to work and around simple trails/camping trips.

I appreciate your quick responses guys!

I kinda expected you guys to say, "buy a sport and build it" which was my original plan. BUUTTTTT (and thats a big but) the sports sitting next to it, and all the sports at the dealers I have been shopping at, are all $31K + which makes no sense to me. I like everything about this Jeep. I'm not so keen on the black, but I would rather spend $2K more for this, then a plain sport and put..
$1500 tires
$1500-$2000 armor
$400-$600 small coil lift

The battle isn't over on the price yet though either guys. I won't come out of there paying the $33,999. It will either be lower, or the WARN on the Jeep next to it will be in my bumper.

It's a nice rig, but not for that price. And I can't even believe they would let someone sign the dash of a new rig! It Wasn't built by chip foose, come on now!

If you like it and are satisfied with the mods and price, I say buy it. You should definitely add gussets to the c's to strengthen things up a bit if that wasn't already done.

all the sports by you are 31k?? that doesnt sound right at all. all the ones by me are $23-25. might be worth the few hour drive towards philly or pitt to look at another dealer.

That price seems crazy to me but I install everything myself (with the help of everyone here). I purchased my JKUR pretty well optioned and was out the door for $34k.

This said, If you were to pay someone to do the installations for you you would likely end up in the same place money wise.

As for RR. I have seen some of their stuff that fit well and some the fit REALLY bad. I think their shop is too small to make things in big enough production runs to control quality. In the first picture it looks like the fenders are causing the sheet metal to get pulled. "Hand built" is a cool catch phrase, but I will take machine consistency anyday.

Not to mention they have used bondo on the past to fix sheet metal issues. No thanks!

If it wasn't for the fact we have dealt with this dealer before I may have. I have been to 6 dealers now and the cheapest sport I have seen was just under $31.

I do like every aspect of the Jeep. (other than the signature) I'm not apposed to selling anything off of it either. But like I said, by the time I would get most of the parts I wanted, I would be in deeper than the price of this one.

River Raider offers 12 month warranty on his stuff, if I crinkle a fender, he will replace it. The dealership told me to go out and beat on it like its supposed to be used. It's all covered. (I won't be beating on it either, not on a $33,000 vehicle) At least not till my tab isn't so high.

I would put the stuff on myself. I'm not new to wrenching on things, or small fabrication tasks (my dad is a welder by trade) but the fact that what is already done makes it a jump start to the things I would like to do in the future, such as a PR44 front, 4.56 and sport cage.

I guess I kinda am set on this one but who knows, if the dealer won't work with me. I'll hold off.

Sorry guys!! I'm just too excited to be in a rust free vehicle! And back in a Jeep! :D
