Looks Like Forbes Just Doesn't Get The Wayalife

Not sure how many of you out there have seen this but apparently the folks at Forbes are listing the Jeep Wrangler as one of the top 15 new cars to avoid. They even took this opportunity to take a shot at all the Wranglers that have paved the way before the JK

Here is the link to the article, I've also included it's contents below
http://www3.forbes.com/business/15-new-cars-to-avoid/10/

"Though some might argue the iconic Wrangler and its four-door Wrangler Unlimited version are among the best-performing off-road vehicles, they suffer from limited passenger comfort, harsh and erratic ride and handling abilities and excessive wind noise at higher speeds. True, they get great resale value, but the Wranglers placed among the lowest scoring models in Consumer Reports’ testing, with the Unlimited also falling on its worst-values list; the original Jeep’s descendent also gets low marks in initial quality, performance and reliability from J.D. Power."

Soooo.... because its not a luxury SUV its to be avoided despite resale value being tremendous? Hmmm

That pic alone describes why the Wrangler is so popular, though I do agree with some of their concerns about road noise, comfort and reliability (I've had a few Chrysler products). Those concerns did not stop me from buying 2 Wranglers and when I traded in my last Wrangler I got more back than any other vehicle Ive owned.

On a side note, I am guessing the majority of Forbes readers may agree with the article but when it comes to sales it appears more people buy the wrangler each year.

So let me get this straight:
They faulted the wrangler for not being comfortable, having poor fuel mileage and having a lot of wind noise?

Show me another vehicle that can go the places a wrangler can go, that provides the level of comfort and efficiency that these vehicles provide.

I'll save you all the time (since you know the answer already)

Such a vehicle does not exist.

Good god. You want comfort? Buy a luxury suv. Want fuel efficiency? Go and pick up a prius or a volt. How about a convertible with no wind noise? I guess a ZL1 vert would do.

But if you came here to kick ass and chew bubble gum, and your last stick of juicy fruit ran out at the trailhead, then grab up a JK Mr Forbes auto reviewer man. Jesus. The author needs to go sip chai lattes with the toolbag who wrote the "I just don't get the jeep thing" article.

Nothing that he said is false. Wranglers are really capable cool vehicles. And like I tell people that ask how I like my jeep, you really need to want one to stay with it. There is a lot of road noise and it absolutely has a horrible ride off the lot, and people that buy jeeps that are never going to go off-road don't realize how much they are going to mind all the JK's flaws until after the excitement of buying a new vehicle wears off. I smile whenever I see my jeep because it's what I have always wanted, and don't mind it's flaws because I know what it's made for and have never owned a better handling vehicle so I don't know any better.

The true reason why Forbes does not like the Wrangler is the fact we spend out hard earn saving on mods and not investing in their recommended 401K's and IRA's. I say it is my money and let me spend it how I see fit. So what if my kid has to pay his own way through college, I did. It is my money let me spend it how I want.

But they always judge jeep in the wrong categories. We aren't about comfort or speed or luxury. That's like giving a corvette a bad rating because it's terrible in the snow or off-road. Peeps are the best at what they do...period.

I guess if we all followed the Forbes way of thinking we'd all be out on the trail like this in our Forbes rated Smart Cars :cheesy::cheesy:

I guess no one should buy a motorcycle because it has poor passenger comfort and road noise :grayno:

It's Forbes. It's about their subscribers who are about urban, high-rise living and little else. And then there are the rest of us, thank you very much.:twocents:
