Odd request on tires.

Hi guys,

I have an odd request. I am getting close to purchasing new tires. I am looking at the Nitto Trail M/T, but leaning towards an aggressive AT for wear mileage due to commute. I drive from the foothills and through some mountains. I do not know about anybody else, but I feel my BFG KM's are loud enough to deter deer from getting in my path.

So, I would like some input from owners for the following tires I am contemplating on getting. I want the opposite. A noisy tire with great wear mileage. I do know higher the load range the rougher the ride and it does not concern me. I do travel on service and logging roads so an AT would work great for me.

Nitto Terra Grappler
Nitto Terra Grappler G2
Toyo Open Country AT 2
Cooper Discoverer S/T MAXX
BF Goodrich KO2
Mickey Thompson ATZP3

Size I am looking at 285/75/17's. Willing to change to a larger size due to availability. I want to keep my stock wheels and do not want to go too wide as well. Keeping my 3.73 gears in my 2011 auto for now.

Thanks in advance.

I'm running the g2 in 285/75r17 on stock wheels and I love em. I don't have any hum on the road but they still perform when the pavement ends. We also run them on all of our work trucks

I had terra grapplers on my jeep for a while. I love them. They perform great. Will be putting a set on the wife's car in the future as well

I ran a set of Terra Grapplers on a truck of mine and got 70,000+ miles out of them......great tire and as Adam said they don't make any noise going down the road

To get high mileage on a tire would be great. I felt the KM's did not do that. I know they were M/T's. I am on my second set. With the Terra's not just you guys, but I have been reading excellent reviews on them. The Cooper's and Toyo's are in the running as well.

Ive had several sets of the BFG ATs on several different vehicles and they were a great tire. I wouldn't hesitate to run the new KO2s if I were looking for an aggressive AT tire instead of the MT.

Agreed with the post above. I've ran BFGs and plenty of other tires on various rigs over the years. The BFG ATs have always treated me well. I got a chance to compare the Nitto G2 and BFG KO2 side by side. I REALLY like the look of the KO2 a lot better. It just looks way more aggressive. I was going to purchase the KO2 before I came across a great deal on the KM2s. I have a buddy here who has the Toyo AT2s. Those are some sweet tires too. Your rig is gonna look great with some bigger shoes!!

My son runs the Toyo at2 on his Cherokee. Very quiet, great response/road feel. He has not used them much offroad. Snow is where these tires impressed me, plus the 65,000 mile warranty. I just installed the terra G2 on my tow pig. They do hum at higher speed (not broken in yet, only 500 miles on them) and handle well on the wet roads here. These also came with a 65,000 mile warranty. The price was better than the same size Open Country AT2. Toyo is owned by Nitto and in our area is almost exclusively handled by Les Schwab. My size is 305/50R/20. Schwab wanted $343 per tire for the AT2. Discount Tire sold me the G2 for $285 per tire. The warranty was the same for both.

Have the AT2's in a 35. Great tire, good road manners, good in snow/forrest roads. Haven't had them in the mud just yet. They are quite, not a lot of road hum to them.
