Dana 60 upgrade

I am eventually going to upgrade to the crd 60 front and rear. But was wondering should I do the front or rear first. Which is under more stress? I think the front should be first just because it's a Dana 30.

Why Teraflex, a suspension company and not an axle company?

As for your question, I'd do the front first. Swaping to a bigger housing won't stress the other. Just make sure your gear ratio is the same in both.

I would love the prorock 60 but the crd 60 is a little more affordable. A concern I have is saving a little now would cost in the long run.

As others have asked, how big of a tire are you hoping to run and, do you really think you need something like a 60 in your neck of the woods? As mentioned, there's a reason why Chinese made axles cost less.

37's but like the peace of mind a Dana 60 would offer.

Being out in Yonkers, NY, exactly what trails are you planning on running and how often that would require that kind of peace of mind? And, to that point, you have a lot more faith than I would in a chinese made 60. Of course, I'm just a mall crawler who runs his 37's on a ProRock 44 so, don't mind me.

I'm not running anything crazy right now as my build been a little slow. But by March I plan on having a 4inch Evo long arm king shocks 37's and at least have changed out one of my axles.

So save even more money and get the benefit of a better turning radius, greater ground clearance and less weight by getting a ProRock 44 instead. If you've seen our videos, you know what we put our axles through and on a regular basis and for what you'll be doing, I can assure you that you won't be needing a 60.

I understand the piece of mind aspect. But to put things in perspective - member Noroad (and others but I don't know their setups) just finished a trek from MA to CA - wheeled the Rubicon and is driving back all on a Dana30, with 4.88 gears and no front locker with 37s.

Save your money and just get a front PR44. And if you break your rear get either a trail60 or a PR60 for about the same as a set of the CRD60s. Without the "made in China" stamp.

This ^^^^ :yup:

I have a question. I plan on running 40's one day. PR 60's would be my best bet correct? Don't worry my Jeep is made in the USA no Chinese crap on this girl.

Dynatrac axles are the top of the line best axle you can buy for your JK. If it is absolutely out of the question to spend that kind of money, I'd look at the Mopar/Spicer Ultimate Dana 60 axles. Same price range as the Teraflex axles, but you get full float 8 lug axles, 1 1/2" 35 spline 4340 chromoly shafts, 1550 u joints on the front axle, larger diameter tubes, and a 10" ring gear up front. Teraflex are semi float rear, and with their track record on quality I couldn't recommend them.

Like others have said, Dana 60s are overkill for 37s. A protocol 44 and built rear Dana 44 would be sufficient.

Ask David Bruton what he thinks of the mopar axles. <img src="http://wayalife.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=155089"/>
I've seen that. He launched it over 90 feet. I guess if you plan to do that sort of stuff Dynatrac's most stout axles or even something stronger ( if there is such a thing) are what you'd need to look at.
