Looks awesome! Can't wait to see some action shots!

Got a few projects that we're working on but we're hoping to take her out in our backyard to do some testing later today. I'll be sure to post up pics if we do. :yup:

Yeah, really.

As stupid as it was for them to do, here's a video of the ATX launching their Jeep JK Wrangler Unlimited in Moab running 40" tires and on a ProRock 44...

The landing was far from pretty but the only thing that broke was a spindle and front axle shaft. The ProRock housing itself was fine and they had it fixed up and back on the road again in about week. Recently, a similar stupid jump was done running a UD60 and it didn't fair nearly as well. If I could guess, their booger for plug welds that Dana typically has just couldn't hold up to the stress. Of course, this is not to say that the axle shafts, ring gear, knuckles, ball joints and hubs wouldn't be stronger in a UD60.

Sounds logical. Cool.

This brings me to the question of why does dynatrac only rate their 44 for 37s? I recall Mel saying in the vengeance video that you could jump the jeep with that axle on 40s. Of course, that was the 44/60 hybrid but still.

Because the ring and pinion will be small in a 44 and it will be your weakest link. This will especially be the case if you run 5.38's like you should with a set of 40's. Of course, this is to say nothing about axle shafts or anything else. Vengeance was a 2-door that was lighter than a heavy 4-door and that is what most people are running today. Also, the hybrid axle has 60 ends and that's where the break on the ATX JK with it's 44 happened. Every which way you look at it, 37's really should be the most you should run on a 44 if you play hard and want to do so with confidence.

To be clear, Rubicat definitely "looks" wicked hardcore but Moby would out "perform" it in a heartbeat.

Lol oh yea I know moby would out perform rubicat currently. Hopefully soon they will both be up to the same performance level

Damn Eddie and Cindy. Just got some time to check this out. So looks like this will be a permanent update vs the last time you "tried on" on 40s.

As she did last time, rubicat looks awesome. I'm just pissed on a personal note as I wanted a rig built like rubicat. You just up'd the anti yet again.

Looks great!!!

I believe 37's are the all around best tire size for the JKU. It gives you good street ride and all around off road use. Once you hit the 40's there are alot more prevent breakdown upgrades that have to be done.
Of course it all boils down to what you want to do and how big the wallet is. I have 37's on mine and never have had any trouble and can go just about anywhere the 40's can go.

As some of you may recall, Cindy and I took Moby's old 40x15.50 Nitto Mud Grapplers mounted on 20" ATX Slab and painted the rings Dozer Yellow so that we could run them on Rubicat. Unfortunately, things didn't work out as well as we would have wanted and quickly found that 3 of the 5 tires suffered from severe leaks. After breaking down the wheels again and doing a thorough inspection of the beads, we found that the problematic tires were installed improperly and had beads that were folded over in multiple locations. It would take multiple attempts (literally breaking the bead locks down about half a dozen times and reinstalling them) to mitigate these problem spots but, as of today, we now have a complete set of 5 tires all holding air! It's a bit dark out but, here are a few shots that we just took of what Rubicat looks like with her new shoes. Of course, with the sunset being so pretty again tonight, most of them are kind of redundant only taken with different lighting and from slightly different angles. :D

Just as the sky was starting to light up.

I'll try to post up more pics in the daylight tomorrow.

These dusk pics are amazing. What axles are you running on this now anyway. I haven't followed recently.

At the moment, we are running a full float ProRock 60 rear axle but only a ProRock 44 up front. I just picked up a set of Alloy USA chromoly shafts with full circle clips to help support the bigger tires but, this really isn't the ideal setup for playing the way we normally do. Until we can afford to upgrade the front axle, we'll just be taking it a bit easier.

So I'm thinking the 60 is ok in the rear? You plan to run a 60 up front also then.
