Is that for real? Where do you live?

Yes, it's real. I've had them as close to 100 yards from back door. They've been in my yard grazing.

I live in bear valley springs, outside Tehachapi CA. This is close (mountain/hill ) away from the Tejon Ranch, where they can be legally hunted.

Wow. I had no idea California had such an elk population. Those are some good looking bulls.

I was told they were transplanted here in the 70's. We rarely see the females, they stay at the high elevations. Fairly big heard, usually 14 or so bulls together. Rutt season is always cool.

If you follow Joe rogan at all he's hunted them at the Tojan hunting ranch $$

I wished I had that backyard! Gorgeous view.

Hopefully whenever I move out West I'll be able to do a little elk hunting myself. My dad hunted Elk somewhere around Durango, CO back in the day and was good eating.

Funny how many states there are with Elk herds. We even have one in North Central Pa near the town of Benezette. Its not a native herd as the last of those were killed off in the late 1800's. These are the decendants of a group of 50 or so Rocky Mountain Elk relocated from Yellowstone in the 1920's. We even have a lottery hunt now.

Of course this is your backyard. I could only dream of something so beautiful. Mine here in Austin is full of fucking homeless people.

Just caught this!!! Lol

My back yard was the same way living in Bakersfield. That's why I now have an hour commute to work.,Well worth it!

Yeah I was not raised around any of this and it's really hard for me to deal with people begging on every corner. The Bernie signs here are enough to set me off. My wife doesn't mind it and thinks it's worth putting up with, but we're close to selling out and getting back to the country soon.
