It did not require a subfloor in my JK. Uses the same factory holes as my wooden platform used and then you do 4 nutserts for added support, which were pretty easy overall to do.

I had the same thought...and built my own. It was ok. Goose gear was too expensive for what it was, but then I found American Adventure Lab. I bought their stuff because it's aluminum an it's amazing. Much happier with the result.

I knew I didn’t brick it. The mod is super easy to do. I plan on getting a handheld gmrs or something more permenant (and legal) for trail use but like most things always good to have a backup. And maybe a backup to the backup.

Wow, you nailed it @rubiDave - it was sub channels. I didn't realize I needed to set it to 0 in order to be in a non-tone situation. That was exactly the thing I needed to know. Thank you! All set!

Thanks for posting valid questions... This is on a Yaesu FT2D, I have done the mars/murs mod. Looked good to me and clean and the radio did reset after as expected on the many many videos on the internets. I'm not sure how to set tone on my GMRS radio, they are simple old ones that I'm not...

Hey all, a bit of a non-orthodox post here but I'm having some trouble and looking for help. I want to build an emergency mobile radio for the trails that can transmit oob. I've already moded it to do so but I can't seem to get it to work. Any HAM guys on here know the details of GMRS and OOB...

I actually have some of these, but I didn't turn out to be a fan of them.

Can't help the wiring - it's a rats nest from the switchpros and without undoing every connection and redoing it - there's not much you can do.

In case anyone who comes across this thread later wants to see the end results... Here's without the rats nest. I trimmed the factory terminals similar to earlier in the thread. These are 3/8 terminals, I might do 5/16 if I was to do it again. I had to ream out several of the terminals for...

Thank you for letting me know. I saw those over and over again in my searching and was concerned on the quick connect aspect...seems like it may be cheap, but good to know it's holding up good. I suppose the fact you can always spin them again to tighten them more as long as the threads don't...
