Switch pod question

I recently installed a new Voswitch jl200 in my 2020 JT. It was a pretty straight forward installation, but I ran into one small problem with connecting it to ACC power.

I used the add-a-fuse link that was supplied with the kit and installed it in the F52 (cigar lighter) fuse which worked fine. However, when I remote start the truck from the keyfob it doesn't power up the controller. I can shut the truck off and then restart from inside the truck and it powers up fine.

I was wondering if there is something I missed in the installation or can I connect to a different place in the fuse box to avoid this?

So when you hop in the Jeep after you remote start. Then hit the start button on the vehicle (as in able to drive) and it’s still off?

yes. The cigar lighter has power after the remote start but i cannot switch the controller. I can shut the truck off and restart using the button inside and it powers up fine.

Weird.
So. It’s normal for it to be off until you hit the “start engine stop” button even after a remote start. At least that’s how mine is (with a switch pros).
The controller will not power on untill the button is pressed. No need to power down and restart though.

Do you have your switch pros connected to the same circuit he does (F52) ?

I only installed it this past weekend so im not real familiar with its operation. When I first installed it, I hit the button on the switch controller to power it up, then I turned the truck off and restarted to see if the controller would remember its last state and repower itself with the vehicle and it did. It wasnt until I started it remotely that I noticed this other issue. It is weird

I haven't had a chance to experiment with another circuit yet, but I'm wondering if I can find a work around by using a different one.

It isn't really a major problem, because I really only remote start the vehicle on cool mornings, I just find it strange that the rest of the circuit stays powered up after a remote start.

I am using one of the add-a -fuse links to power it up. Do you think that could be the reason? I have included a picture of the style I'm using.

Did you set the dip switch in the box correctly?
I manually turn on my universal 8 voswitch because I sometimes use it without keys. but I remember if you want it to trigger on you have to set one of the dip switches. It looks like yours uses the same relay box I have.

After you remote start vehicle does your cig lighter port still work? Electrically speaking this problem doesn’t make sense, once it has trigger voltage it should always turn on whether that’s with remote start or not. I’d say check your connections but it works with normal starting. 🤔
Can’t hurt to try another fuse something that does power on with remote start.
I would be interested to put a multimeter on that circuit and remote start it and then turn on and see what the voltage is doing vs just turning on.

I think I installed it correctly because it does power up when you start the truck from inside the cab. I guess I could remove the trigger wire and let it have constant power, I just didn't want to forget about it one day and drain my battery.

The cigarette lighter does still work after remotely starting the truck, that's what's so strange to me.

I am going to play with it some more and see what I can find out.

I don't really know a lot about car electronics, but I wonder if I reverse the fuses in the trigger wire adapter if that would make a difference? It was in one of the slots when I unboxed the kit so I just assumed I removed the fuse from the F52 and inserted that fuse in the empty slot. I need to review the installation instructions again.

The slot with the wire closest is the fuse for the added circuit, the other is the fuse for the circuit you use (cigarette) and would not cause this issue.
I’m wondering if the box senses the jump in batt voltage when you start it and sees the trigger wire off and assumes it’s in manual on/off mode.

I thought about using the headlight circuit. This way the controller buttons will illuminate when my lights are on in the truck. I know that would mean turning my headlights on to use my accessories, what do you think?

I think you need to read the instructions again and make sure you set it right first.

And post them up for your unit bc they’re not online.

This guy has to move a fuse @7:00 minutes

On mine there’s a couple switches to change functions.

If that’s all correct then From there just need to find a fuse to tap that has power when remote started. Headlight fuse likely has power at all times the headlight switch won’t turn on/off the unit.

Okay, that makes sense about the headlights. I will double check my installation.

Thanks for posting the vid. This is looks just like my unit, except that mine mounds on the dash instead of overhead.
