Loose nut on ProSteer Lower Ball Joint

I found the lower castle nut loose on the passenger side today. Jacked up to spin the tire to clean the RCV boots and “oh shit!”
I torqued to spec and replaced the cotter pin. The other 3 where tight.

Anyone seen this before?

I’ve only seen this after install most likely not torqued to spec if it loosens back up the tapered fit may be off .

They were definitely torqued to spec on the initial install. I followed the Dynatrac instructions exactly when mounting the knuckles, which is why this was such as surprise today. You may be right about the taper fit being off. Maybe the fit had a burr in it or something. IDK

Possible it didn’t seat all the way the first time drive it for a bit and recheck the torque.

I recall at some point seeing someone here with a cracked knuckle around the lower ball joint. Probably worth checking.

I had this happen recently on my drag link end at the knuckle. I had just replaced it and torqued it to about 50-55… My steering felt loose and I checked it the nut was loose… so I tightened the castle nut one more notch and all has been fine.

Thanks guys! I inspected the knuckle and confirm NO cracks, but did find my driver front spring out of its perch! Fixed it! Haha!!
