We have a 2021 and have been using 0w20 for the last 60k+ miles and have had no issues. Its what's stamped on my oil fill cap. Like Eddie said run what you want or what ever the internet says. You'll be good to go!I own a 2020 Jeep JL with the 3.6. I see in some YouTube videos, some people recommend changing the viscosity of the engine oil to 5W30. What is the general consensus on doing this for better engine wear? At present I only have 15,000 miles on it.
Ok, thanks for the advice. We have a 2021 and have been using 0w20 for the last 60k+ miles and have had no issues. Its what's stamped on my oil fill cap. Like Eddie said run what you want or what ever the internet says. You'll be good to go!
Great, thanks for the info. So far I have only used the 0W20 and change it every 5000 kilometres.Recently had the cam shafts on the passenger side of my 2018 3.6JL replaced due to the rocker tick and misfire at higher revs.
I had the oil discussion with the mechanic and he educated me on the differences between the newer 3.6 JL versus the JK 3.6.
He says to stick with 0w20 for the JL to avoid issues.
The jk 3.6 tick is common because of its design, but the JLs he has had to repair are low mileage and because the owner used different weight oil, didn't keep it changed at regular intervals (5000) or levels were too low or too high, most he saw were about a quart low.
He says a full synthetic 0w20 for the newer JL 3.6, at regular intervals and if you get the work done at an oil change location, check the level to make sure it at the proper level; something I do because they always seem to overfill it, I'll make them drain some oil to get it right.
2021 w/ 83000 miles running penzoil synthetic 0w20. No problems.I own a 2020 Jeep JL with the 3.6. I see in some YouTube videos, some people recommend changing the viscosity of the engine oil to 5W30. What is the general consensus on doing this for better engine wear?
