    38's - Are They the New 37?

I really hadn't heard of them till the Patagonia tires came around and were getting pushed hard. To me it seemed like a new sales tactic or marketing technique at the time. My guess is If I'm standing there with a choice of 37's or 38's and they're priced the same, I'd just go with the 38's.

    Best roll cage?

Those guys are spot on with the comments about the strength factory cage. I put a Genright cage in my Jeep the year before last and it's an eye-opener how thick that metal is that's used on the OEM cages. I got the cage because my JK is 12 years old and I don't typically have the top or doors...

    Where to start?

You will certainly be surprised how capable your jeep is as it sits right now, but if I was starting over I would start looking at lift/wheels/tires. That's assuming you already have basic tools, recovery equipment, a high-lift jack, and recovery points on your vehicle in front and back since...

    Aftermarket seats

The constant chime is turned off, but I haven't addressed the airbag and seatbelt lights yet. Maybe I'll get to it at some point this year, but it's low on my priority list. A google search for turning the "wrangler seatbelt chime off" will pull up the procedure.

DYNATRAC SAFETY RECALL on 1550 Steering Knuckles

My replacement knuckles arrived yesterday. This whole thing is certainly unexpected and inconvenient, I'm grateful it was posted here for those of us yet to be contacted. I think $245 is reasonable. This isn't $xxx/hr caliber work, but good shops that charge higher fees are justified, so I...

DYNATRAC SAFETY RECALL on 1550 Steering Knuckles

They got it all handled pretty quick. I got the invoice same as above. My tracking info says they'll deliver in two days. Also got this when I inquired about the changes: "The Replacement knuckles will be IRON not Aluminum. None of the upgrade features that were designed into the 1550...

DYNATRAC SAFETY RECALL on 1550 Steering Knuckles

I've been going to the same shop for 10 years now. They always take care of me even though I'm not a big-build or buying one of their Red Dot buggies. The JK they did before mine was a much nicer big-horsepower build. I asked them to just do what they did to it. Probably faster for them anyway...

DYNATRAC SAFETY RECALL on 1550 Steering Knuckles

Thank you for spreading the word! Purchase Date: Feb 2018 Going to need to dig through the Jeep's paperwork box to get the Axle Serial number off the warranty cards. The Truss covers that area up. Email sent today. I'll post up what I hear back. Thanks again!

What stereo receiver are you using?

Stereo guy I went to told me to pick any one of the Pioneer NEX units. I chose the Pioneer 4500NEX for my 2009, which doesn't have navigation, but I get that from my phone wired and wireless. Previously I had a single-din Kenwood deck over a cobra CB unit. It was great, but after wireless...

Best half door and soft upper option?

I bought a set of Core Doors and Bestop's uppers around this time last year. I used them a few days and never put them back on. Sold them a month later when I realized they just aren't what I wanted. The doors are well made and I think they did a great job overall. I enjoyed having half...

    Rock Light Advice

I'm on my second set of LUX lights. I originally ran their Max series in White from 2016 to 2019, and last year I swapped them for 8 RGB MONSTERS with the control box for the app on my phone. (I bought 12, but had a couple bad lights) RGB lights are plenty bright, but not as bright as a...

What was done to your rig this week?

Getting ready for EJS. Finally getting around to a new head unit and replacing the 12 year old factory speakers. On the suggestion of the installer, I went with a Pioneer NEX4500, JL amp and speakers, and custom boxes for 12” subs. They’re installing the Trektop NX Glide so the tower...

HELP NEEDED : mysterious Chinese head unit

From what I can find, that unit looks like it is (or was) marketed in South America. Its a knock-off only in that it looks like the MyGig units, but runs some sort of Andriod-like operating system and it fits early model JK wranglers. You'll likely need to set it up as if it were any other...

PRP premier / daily driver seats

I've got the PRP Summit Elite models installed in my JK and they're great. They seem to be pretty comfortable with all my friends who've ridden in the Jeep. Having so many options, then options within the seats is great, but also makes it hard to choose. I chose these cause I wanted to stay...

What was done to your rig this week?

Had the jeep in the shop for fluid change and good once over before it goes back in to storage. I picked up the Genright quick disconnect steering wheel kit and so far I dig it. It was not a plug-and-play instal as some modification and fabrication was required for the unit for it to fit on my...

    Watcha cookin'?

Out of boredom and curiosity, I bought a Soux Vide cooker off Amazon and playing with it. It takes a while, but it churns out some good steaks and chicken. 1. Season with Salt, Pepper, Garlic and some truffle butter. Drop in a ZipLock bag and use the water to work the air out before sealing...

    Tow rigs

Damn thats a good looking setup! I dig it! I think I have my heart set on a 22'-24' PJ Trailer B6 car-haular gooseneck when the time comes. On a side note. I got some pics from the detailer. Paint Correction and ceramic coat has started and clear bra should be started Tuesday.

    Tow rigs

For EJS this year I borrowed a 38" lowboy gooseneck and hauled two jeeps in my pop's '04 Chevy 3500 Duramax. Those inclines between Phoenix and flagstaff were a game between keeping speed and keeping the transmission temp down. Often plummeting to 20-25mph. It was stressful and slow going, but...
