Quick update. Something shifted or collapsed within the active fissure. The flow heading towards the saddle road is no longer being supplied by fresh lava. The vent has also changed from being a relatively low rumbling fountain to a massive fountain. No word yet on where it will be heading yet...

I should be good here. Kona, Waikoloa, and Waimea probably gonna catch it. We’ll see. Could quit in a week or go on for decades. Who knows.

Pretty exciting. Current usgs webcam photo of the caldera. Mauna Loa will put out just as much lava in a single day as Kilauea puts out in a month or so.
