They have pros and cons but you can get good performance out of both. If I was in your boat I’d stay coil and shock with a good resi shock that has some good travel. King and fox both offer shocks that will give you plenty of travel and ride really nice.

I will echo what Eddie said about sand hollow. Close, decent weather this time of year and everything from a milk run to a buggy trail and all within 5 minutes of eachother.

It will dry out pretty good by then, but there will still likely be mud lingering in areas and, possibly snow on the higher up trails.
