Even earlier (1960!). Great early bands: The Beatles, The Kinks, The Animals, The Zombies, The Yardbirds. These are all from Great Britain. Oddly, many were inspired by American blues musicians.

I don't have any social media accounts (unless Wayalife counts) although I do have a linked-in account that I log in to perhaps once per year. We no longer have "cable" channels or broadcast TV. Instead we watch Netflix or YouTube videos.

The ratings for late night TV comedy in general has surely been tanking for several years. People have many other things to watch at night now and have little reason to turn to legacy broadcast networks. Only really poor people who can not afford more than broadcast TV have limited options.
