I thought about that also. I have a light bar bracket. I also am thinking of using the ditch light bracket on the lightbar bracket. I like the hood for the larger ground plane. It made a difference for CB, not sure if it matters as much on GMRS.

Soft shackle to the axle, or tree saver to the axle. In a pinch, soft shackle through a wheel works well enough.
