Random (non-Jeep) Shit You’re Working On....

More trailer stuff… The whole suspension is nearly worn out, at least the brakes and bearings have been in good shape so far.

Random (non-Jeep) Shit You’re Working On....

Trailer leaf spring brackets… One side was completely sheered off and the other still had about 1.5” of steel left holding. I don’t know how long I drove it like this but glad I caught it when I did. Had to borrow a buddy’s 110v welder since I was scared to drag the trailer to the shop.

    Tire size?

Went to 37's on my 4 door JL Rubicon with the 3.6L and put about 20K miles on it before regearing. Prior to regearing the biggest modification would be calibrating the speedometer, that really changed how the jeep drove. The 3.6 and factory 4.10:1 gearing was very drivable with the 37" tires...

Knocking sound in the front end - tie rod gone to crap?

It looks like the jeep in your profile pic has King hydro bumps... My King bumps have loosened up a few times and will "clunk" at random times when loose.

Knocking sound in the front end - tie rod gone to crap?

^^^^ This Lay under the front end and have someone crank the steering wheel back and forth, just far enough to generate movement at the tires. Look, listen and feel for movement in anything.

    Suspension!!!

Often times the recommended bump stop height is to ensure the spring isn't compressed to the point of binding or failure.
