Underpowered Jeep Cj7

I have a 1984 cj7. It has a 4.2l six cylinder under the hood. Recently, I've given the jeep a make over. I lifted it and out 35 inch tires on it. It also has a garvin wilderness rack.

I've noticed the jeep has very little power. I've maxed out at 63 mph... Downhill. I'm assuming I should change the gear ratio. Any suggestions?

Sounds like a regear is needed with the bigger tires...

This^^! A regear would work wonders for you. I am assuming that it ran fine and had power before the larger tires? Still running the AMC20?

definately need gears. my CJ5 with the 258 I6 had a very noticable power loss when i installed 33's, so i imagine 35's would be even worse.
