New ball joints and drag link fitting.

Just had my fave 4x4 shop check the jeep over. Turns out the ball joint at the steering knuckle is shot. Lots of play up and down. Also play in the lower ball joints when pushing up against the wheel with a pry bar. Shop tells me this is why my steering feels loose and why i have bump steer. I asked if I needed a flip on the track and drag bar but they tell me as long as my bars are parallel bump steer shouldn't be an issue. Jeep has a lift of 4" with 35s but has no track bracket or drop pitman .The rear has raised track bracket. They say its weird I don't have drop pitman and and front track bracket yet axle seems to be centered. Maybe my front springs are not giving me much lift.

it sound slike a drag link flip is needed. i have heard bad things about a drop pitman arm. the drag link would fit you perfect since you are over 4" of lift and will help correct your steering geometry

What cozdude said, also keep in mind that if you are installing a drag link flip kit you'll need to install a front track bar bracket.
I had a terrible DW due to shot ball joints and drag link ends. I replaced them this past weekend and the ride is awesomely better!!
I also changed the tie rod for a Raybestos one, the stock was not in really bad shape but since I was at it I decided to change it as well.

If you are doing this yourself then:

Note: I used synergy's ball joints but if I've known better at the time I got them I would have bought USA Alloys (Only 115.36 @ Amazon)

Have fun!!

Why would my axle be centered after the lift . Shouldn't it be off centre and require an adjustable track bar or the flip and bracket. Doesnt make sense that it would be centered with 4" of lift. Thanks for all the info.
