The building of knuckles

Newbie question, how can you identity visually that there is something wrong with the Prosteers aside from the obvious rubber tears, leaky fluids?

Newbie answer; I don't know.....

I wish I could tell you, but it was one of the only upgrades (Prosteers) I did not do all those years ago. I would think that if the rubbers are still intact, that it would be just like any other ball joint = slop, play, wobbly steering, noise from the front end, clunks that transmit through the steering. I have the standard 1 ton front end ball joints on my ProRock, and really there is no reason for me to check on them other than MTG's recent posts. I have exceptionally great steering, even after all my abuse to the rig, no signs of front end ssues, but after 5 years I would not mind taking as close a look as I can without actual removal.

Alright, I do have a clunk in my frontend passenger side, but I think it's my tie rod or draglink. I'll give the ProSteers a looksie too just in case. Mine are 3 years old with some pretty hard abuse but hopefully no issues are found. :thumb:

Is that stuff that good? Something about drinking a stick of butter keeps me from trying it.

Bring it over and we can take a look. We can knock your brakes out too.

So good. Have it just about every day.

I talked to dynatrac last week about them. They said you check them the same way you would any other ball joint. Movement side to side is fine but up and down is not. They sell the rebuild kits for $200, just call them to order.

JK work experience. I parked under a tree so it's kind of like being in the Northwest, right?

Nothing like the office on a holiday weeknd. :grayno:

Edit: Damn you Overlander, now all I can see is that crooked sticker.

I think I need to go take a look at my ProRock's ball joints, although they have been problem free for almost 5 years, your thread has peaked my interest on their condition

I had to rebuild my Dynatrac ball joints in 2 years, but that was after 2 years of hard wheeling in Colorado.
