Apple Watch

Since I am a true watch guy with more watches than I care to admit having, I found this article on the Apple Watch to be about the best take on the device ....

This is a good article, and one I hadn't read before. Will be interesting to see other similar perspectives start to trickle out as well as those from the "fashion" perspective. I'm admittedly not a watch guy, so who knows if I'll buy the Apple Watch. Haven't worn one in years, though often covet a TAG but have yet to pull the trigger. The Apple watch is more of a tech play that may attract a few match guys...rather than the other way around. Won't argue with that aspect of article.

I have had four Tags over the years but only have one left. Some were great, some not so much.

Deal breaker for me with the apple watch is the fact it isn't waterproof to at least 3 ATM. I'm hard on watches, and I expect them to handle the environment.

Since I am a true watch guy with more watches than I care to admit having, I found this article on the Apple Watch to be about the best take on the device since it is strictly from a traditional watch reviewer's perspective and not from the digital lifestyle tech nerd angle. Anyway, it's a decent read and solidified the notion that although I like the Apple Watch, it is definitely not for me.

After reading this article and seeing those pictures I need to change my stance on the watch. Lol
I like the fitness aspects on it and for the price it may be a competitor with Frontrunner line of watches or flat out make them worthless. Time will tell how good it performs.

Anyway I like it a whole lot more than I did yesterday. I still don't see myself ever buying one. Especially for daily use. Hard to put my mechanical drive bias aside.....

Not a collection worth much in terms of rarity or high collectibility, but I am a big fan of Omega (own many), Panerai (guess I'm a Panerista since I have three), Doxa (own two), several watches that are no longer available that were issued to me during my Green Beret days, and have inherited my fathers collection of several vintage pieces.

Glad a few of you found value in the article I linked.

I'm about the same as you. Have a Hublot, two Panerais, an Audemars Piguet, an IWC in need of repair, and some miscellaneous pieces but nothing truly rare or highly collectible.

Wow! Some true watch aficionados here. :yup:

I only have a free mickey mouse watch, a Seiko Night Monster from Japan, a Debaufre and a big ass 51mm Nixon.

As for the apple watch. It will be a hit. Tons of people will buy it. It will spark a bunch of copycats. The same people that hate everything apple will say it sucks. The apple fanboys will believe it will help them walk on water...and get laid.

I've literally had the wallet out a few times on a TAG, as recently as 5-6 months ago. Just never swiped the plastic. LOL. My dad has a few great time pieces, but they always seem to look better on others or in the case, than on my wrist.

The waterproof thing kind of sucks. I'm going on record now saying the Apple Watch Gen 3 is going to kick ass. Should have everything you need.

Yeah, what do I need a watch for, that's why I have my iPhone. :cheesy: BTW, anybody see the 1hr announcement about the iPhone6. So much talk about the watch, we forgot about the product actually coming out. iPhone6 is going to be the best Watch to hit shelves in 2014. Tells date and time right there on the home screen. Two please. ;)

Hey flava flav, I bet that big ass Nixon really pulls in the lounge lizardettes on menopause casino nights:rock:

You missed him in Reno. Five glorious minutes and he had the octogenarian casino bartender lass fawning over him.

Hellz yeah! Gets 'em hotter than a lonely housewife, reading 50 Shades of Grey, at a Magic Mike screening. :thumb:

Even got us those fancy $2 drinks. That's not a perk the give out to just anyone. ;)

Yeah I've been watching the 6 release closely. Not that I'm getting one, just waiting to see if my apple shares go up so I can sell lol

Don't sell yet. Cook is making appl a long stock. I bought my first shares before the first iPhone came out and more along the way. The dividend isn't bad either.

Yeah I watched it shoot up to 102, last I saw it was at 98 I believe. You must have got in at like 70?

Closed at 101 today. But watching that stock daily gives me indigestion. I got in just over 100 the first time around. The split was freaked fantastic.

Yeah I try not to watch it, been playing with options lately but still learning

Most reports I've read have been rather positive. For there to be skeptics is par for the course for Apple. Most people thought the mouse, MAC, iMAC, MacBook Air, iPhone, iPad, iPad mini would all also fail. So sure, the WATCH will fail too. Or could find a nice little niche market and thrive. Only time will tell. I won't pass judgement on a product still in R&D.

Nearly everything Apple has currently was in the Jobs pipeline. Jony Ive was mentored and hand picked by Jobs to carry the innovation. I think we are seeing just the beginning now. The iPhone was announced 6 months before release. So there is still time for the watch device to further develop before it hits shelves next year some time. I remember waiting in line for the first iPhone and people saying I was crazy to spend $599 (no subsidies) for a cell phone. LOL

I'm 1000% biased as I've been exclusively MAC for 16+ years at work and home. New career changes brought me a Dell laptop and Windows OS about 6 months ago.  Want to talk crappy! I'm so glad for days when I can work from home. LOL

I think I posted this elsewhere, but talking MAC/Apple is more divisive than talking politics.

Well like said, my family and I are all Mac, 100%. The company, which I own is all Mac with the exception of a couple of servers that need to be windows.

Apple has just made some pretty big mistakes over the last 18-24 months.

Look at iOS 7... It sucks compared to iOS 6. Hopefully iOS 8 will fix a lot of the issues. Figures crossed.

I know less and less people that wear a watch. I just seriously don't see the point. It's just another new "hipster" gadget.

My phone however is a tool. I'm on it all the time. It's like any tool I have. I have it for a purpose. The 6 is to big... You might as well hold an iPad mini to the side of your face. I laugh at those samsung prowl that have a phone you can hardly hold.

Apple has deviated since Jobs... and not for the better. Hopefully they turn it around.
