Bog Out

Just saw this on facebook about a new recovery tool from an Australian company. Basically, you tie one end of each harnesses to a pair of tires (both front or both rear) and the other end to a secure anchor point (a tree, etc), then slowly drive forward or reverse. The wheels will wind in the harness like a winch, allowing you to pull yourself out.

What do you think about this? This could be an alternative to a winch for someone just starting out that doesn't have room in their budget for a winch right away. Also, since this isn't mounted on the vehicle, it would be easy to share one set of these between vehicles in a group. That said, it does look pretty limited by its length, and you would need to have the anchor points it's tied to directly in line with the tires or I could see it slipping off and wrapping around your axle instead. And a winch would be much more useful in the long run anyway.
