My two inch receiver hitch is part of rear bumper not welded to frame-- any issue with using a tow hook in my receiver hitch?

Which bumper is it ?

I've seen a couple that say the built-in/welded receiver is not for towing just recovery, but I've also seen some homemade bumpers I wouldn't trust with me standing on them.

Unless you personally installed it, I would verify all the grade 8 hardware has been installed and is tight. Thats just me though. Ive seen where some leave out the hard to reach ones ie the inner front bumper bolts.

Stock bumper...sounds as though all will be well...thx

You mean one of these (factory receiver hitch) ?

Absolutely strong enough for recovery hook.

Make sure you get a good strong hook that has been rated for at least twice your gross vehicle weight.

Mine was slightly oversized or the receiver was undersized.... either way, I had to pound it in with a block of wood and a sledge! Ain't coming out anytime soon
