Here's another one of my toys. Picked it up in Phoenix in pieces and was able to get it back on the road a couple years later. It's a lot of fun to drive but it doesn't get used this time of year in MN.

Our latest hot rod. '36 Chevy. If only I knew jeeps and hot rods had the same thirst for my money.

I thought about an FJ for a while before getting my JKU. When the time came to buy something new, I just never thought to go test drive one. I'm very happy with my jeep, but I still have a soft spot for the FJ. I guess I have some light and dark in me!

I had fun with it, only thing I didn't like. There was no suspension drop maybe a few inches I always had one tire off the ground.:idontknow:

I was running a 2" spacer and 33"x12.5"

That thing is max flex In your picture with only 3 wheels touching. :p.

I never got the fj appeal. 3 wipers..can't go over a mild parking lot speed bump without hitting max flex. The only upside is ( in Washington at least ) I could sell my JK and buy 3 used fjs. There value around here is nothing.

Oh. And I hate Toyotas :p

I think if I had to do it again, for an SUV/Family wagon, I think I'd get one of these. All of the problems you mention pretty much sound like my '05 Grand Cherokee. And I'd venture a guess that the FJ gets better than 10mpg.

For off road though, definitely wrangler.

Grand Cherokee's have a decent 4x4 and snow capabilities. Fjs just don't look even safe to me. And if you go 2004 and step down from WK to WJ. You can mod :p. My old wj was lifted on 35's. Loved it. Nothing like wheeling with heated seats. Ac. 4 doors. Power everything. Back before the JKU came around that is :p

Yeah, I definitely miss the Bug. It was a 58', first of the 'big windows'. Had no gas gauge, so I had to lift the 'hood', take off the gas cap, and shake the car to see how much gas I had! I didn't want to add one and ruin the original look of it. Fun though, like driving a go cart.
