Time to respray the XJ!

Hi fellow Jeepers,

I've decided to give my XJ a respray and wanted to get some of your opinions on textured paint and the colour!

I managed to get the bonnet done tonight, you may or may not see the texture too well without zooming in a little, but basically I've applied it through a spatter gun at 50 psi, it's a rubberised paint so I will be putting a tupac over it to help it against battle scars!

Any feedback is good feedback! ImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1435930070.606123.jpg ImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1435930092.480031.jpg ImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1435930115.459566.jpg

I'm no fan of bedliner on the body but your handy work with a spray gun is quite good.

I've seen a few bedliner paint jobs. Most look horrible but yours is one of the few that looks good.

Thanks guys. It's certainly a bit different.

Watch this space I'll be respraying the compete vehicle this month, minus engine bay.

The XJ started telling me it wanted more money spent on her! ... and it continues

These are very recent photos, work in progress. To come: 14" Amada Extreme Coilovers front and rear, completion of the dual triangulated 4 link (test phase to follow), lifting fuel tank, full exterior cage, unibody strengthed, chopped sills and 150x50x3 rhs installed and braced, custom front and rear tube guards, 37x12.50R17 Big Rock's.

Lots to do, and then a nice top coat of paint. ;)

Jeep looking good. Good welds too. You pick an exterior color yet? Also, you look like Tai Lopez in that selfie.

Am going to repsray it in a pretty white and the exo cage will be black. Should match the White 2015 JK Rubicon that I ordered way back in June/July. Still waiting for it to hit NZ shores.

Ok seriously I'm hopeless when it comes to sparing some time for these updates, will eventually finish putting these together on my website and repost. Here's some more recent photos to give you an idea where we are up to in the project. From what I see your rig is BAD ASS! I have always liked that body style too. Cannot wait to see the results. Subscribed!:thumb:

Cheers! Yeah I love body style, a real classic SUV. Me too, ultimately we want stable rock crawling performance and the go fast option too with the 3" hydro bumpstops and 14" coilovers making that more possible ;)

So I actually finally got round to putting a little website together for this build because like most Jeep owners it's hard to put a stop on mods. It can be followed here where I will post regular photos. Welcome any questions to this thread.... And eventually it will be painted lol

Not trying to be an ass here but if it's all the same to you, if you have something you want to post up here on WAYALIFE, I'd be grateful it was JUST here on WAYALIFE and not just a way to redirect traffic to your website.

Completely not my intentions at all, I have nothing to offer anything to WAYALIFE users except some images and a bit of information on my Jeep project only. I thought it would be better to try and keep the build in one place with a bit more detail for the meantime if you understand what it's like can be a bit repetitive and finding the time to keep all of it updated as well.. and point noted and respected. You guys are the inspiration to me, became part of your forum and following your epic trips.. and all the reason I ordered a JK Rubicon which I'm waiting very patiently to hit our shores. So I absolute mean no disrespect or breech a forum rule, my sincere apologies.

On another note, here's some of the latest progress. Getting on the guard work now which will incorporate the external cage work.

Awesome thread man! I can't wait to see the finished product.

Cheers mate. So far it's looking like February before its taken out on its first shakedown run, but not long before it can be driven and reversed back into the workshop to start working on the front. :)
