Planning 4X4 Trip to US from UK

Hi

I live near London in the UK and for September/October I am trying to decide whether to fly to the US and take a tour of Moab or other places in a rented Jeep with a guide or drive in my own Jeep through France to Corsica, Italy and tour the island with a company who specialise in this. The cost of the Corsica trip with fuel, ferries, tolls, etc. is just over $3,000 for 2 weeks. This made me think if flying to the US and taking a trip would work out the same or less. Apart from the fact I've viewed all the Wayalife videos I wouldn't really know where to travel to or which company to go with, so any advice would be great. I'm more after a week long trip if that's possible than just a day here or there.

Paul,

I have limited experience 4-wheeling in this area (or any for that matter). However, I used to live in Germany and have travelled all over Europe. You will have to ask yourself: Do I want to tour with a lot of people or do I want to tour just by myself? As you know, living in London, the population density is significant. However, out here where I live, I might go on a hike or a mountain bike ride and see someone maybe once every 1-2 hours. My memories of Europe and London were of constant people everywhere.

Being that I live here, I would suggest the wide open trip with limited people. Of course, right? I have done a week long mountain biking trip in Moab and can tell you that you will be spoiled for choice with all of the trails. I remember seeing a lot of Jeeps at Slick Rock and marveled at their ability. The wide open area is unbelievable and I do not think that the videos do it justice.

I am sure there are others who will respond and give you some advise. Have fun!!

Come and tour the western U.S., you won't be sorry. There are numerous companies that rent Jeeps in Moab UT & Sedona AZ and offers guided tours in their rentals over the Rubicon. I'm sure you could also probably find an empty seat in some members Jeep on some of the many day runs you see folks organizing.
