Trail Oil Fluid Spill Kits

Amazon has the same kit for less. I'm thinking of getting this other kit that's also 5 gallons but it's smaller because it has no bucket and uses a bag instead.

Didn't check amazon. Good call! :thumb:

Re the bag: Where will you put the bag when it's full of fluid? Will it be at risk of getting punctured? :idontknow: That would suck. But if it can be stored safety I'd be all for it. The bucket does take up some space in the rig. :yup:

The spill kits we have at work, and are required to carry in tactical vehicles, are just small plastic tubs with a mesh type cover and absorbent on the inside. Kind of like a miniature 'drip pan'. Ill take some pics today.

Trail spill kits

I carry a ton of tools, parts, etc. But don't have a spill kit. I'm looking for something compact as possible but still usable.

What is everyone using?

I've been looking at spill kits and found this one at Grainger and on Amazon, cheaper on Amazon of course. http://www.amazon.com/Stardust-Spill-Products-D715-Universal/dp/B00GTKF9JC It seems to be pretty compact and at a decent price.

Yup...

I haven't had to use these yet but I combined these two for my own kit. Then I added my own nitrile gloves and some contractor-grade 40 gallon trash bags. I also added a small dust pan and hand broom. I dumped the powder into a freezer ziploc so that it would fit into the yellow bag. Everything fits inside it.

i just carry the spill pads, box of nitrile gloves from harbor freight are cheap and a contractor 40gallon garbage bag.
for the garage/driveway the pellets work good, for the trail I found the pads work better because you can lay them on the ground and step on them to absorb fluids.

Spill Kit Recommendations

I'm not sure if this is the right spot to post this. My question is what is all the items you would need to put a spill kit together for use on the trail if it is needed?

While I haven't actually put my whole kit together, I do have all the items. Mine consists of 2.5 gallon bucket with lid, couple pairs of nitrile gloves, couple heavy duty trash bags, few oil absorbent mats, 2 three foot oil absorbent snakes, and some kitty litter.
