Hi guys, A new Jeeper here in Merrimac Ma. I finally just bought a 2015 jk, I deserve something after a divorce lol and I want to get into trail riding. I'll be getting a 4inch lift with 37 inch tires with new front and rear differentials and new 4.88 gear. I don't have a lot of time to put all of this on myself. Can anyone recommend a mechanic in my area? Thanks

If you've never done trails before you're taking a mighty big jump equipment-wise going from stock to 37" tires. You may want to scale back a tad & start with 35's & see where it goes from there. Jumping to 37" tires requires a lot more than just a lift & re-gear if you plan to wheel hard & don't want to deal with breakages. What level JK did you get - Rubi or other?

Edit: Better gear ratio for 37's is 5:13. If you have the D30 front axle that's gonna be an area (pinion) prone to breakage. One more reason to stick with 35's.

Thanks for the input!! I had a 74 FJ land cruiser for a few years in 2002 in Colorado. Loved it. Just recently bought a JK and it's a stock sport. If I go with 35", what would you recommend for a lift. I'm looking for some jeep clubs to go riding with, but I also need it for city use too. I drive 19 miles to work. Do I need to change gears for 35"? Thanks again

Check out the EVO enforcer 3" lift with the 35's. 3.73 gear with a 6 speed manual transmission. That seems to be the common denominator for beginner trail riders and off roaders alike. Just my opinion though. In the end it is your money and your decision.

35s don't go any taller then a 3 inch lift even with 37s 3 is good if your running stock fenders then maybe 3.5 but I would still go 3 you can also cut your fenders.

Agreed with the others above. This is my old JKU with 35s and 3" of actual lift (keep in mind most 3" lift kits will give you more than 3" of actual lift. The EVO Enforcer is the only one I know of that the actual lift is the same as advertised).

When I was planning on jumping to 37s I would have only needed to trim fender flares or go aftermarket to make them fit. 2.5-3" and 35s works great IMO.

I have 35s with a 2.5" lift that yielded a little under 3" of actual lift. Here's a picture with stock flares. ImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1467777315.317567.jpg And here's a picture with cut factory flares. ImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1467777345.038225.jpg

Well if your doing a lot of highway or hill driving it would be nice. Also if your hard on the skinny pedal which I am kinda. But iv been running my stock 3.21 gearing on my 35s but yes I don't recommend doing that. I'm thinking of new axles so i don't know if I want to gear yet.

I'll be running 35s on my stock 3.21s for about 6 months. There's quite a few hills here and I'm kind of dreading it. This thing already seems to be sluggish with the stock tires lol!

Sounds awesome! 🤔

Why are you going to do it then? 🤔

I'm waiting until I get back from being out of the country for a few months and trying to see if I can just replace the entire front axle by then. If I can save enough money by then, I'll just buy a front axle and have the rear locked and regeared.

Sorry, I just will never understand why so many knowingly put the "cart before the horse"? Just FYI in the most respectful way, no one cares about your tires but you - meaning do you gain that much joy from the 35's that you're willing to live the under geared dog?

Edit:
I guess you already answered that.

Hi, I live in Mass. Too. I can think of 2 jeep specialist in your area.
In New Hampshire; check out "Steve's Jeep Country" it is in Epsom.
In Newton there is "Boston Jeepz" both have great reviews.

Congrats on the new Jeep! I just re-geared my sport to 4.88 from 3.73 and am loving the new gears. Have power in all 6 (manual trans) gears now. I'm running 35's on 3.5" lift, which is higher than most would suggest here but works for me.
