Finished removing the front axle and leaf springs which were a pain. I had to use a ball joint press to take the bolts out of the shackles and front mounts. Finished the new frame sections and welded the driver side in. Started to prep the passenger side for install. IMG_20170303_210454653.jpg IMG_20170303_210513395.jpg IMG_20170303_210537471.jpg

Welded the passenger side on today. Had the angle wrong on the old frame end and had to make a new half. Started to weld the lower control arm brackets to the axle. IMG_20170307_175304376.jpg IMG_20170307_175320282.jpg pretty proud of this weld

Prepping the rear axle to get the truss welded on. Took out the axle shafts but I need the special socket for the hubs. Took out the carrier but I checked the backlash before I took it out. IMG_20170321_115848573.jpg IMG_20170321_121325737.jpg IMG_20170321_123016065.jpg

You can use a punch and hammer on the spindle nut, which is what i did on my JK to take them off. One of them is reverse threads cant remember which one is which though.

What size gears you plan to run? Just curious cause i know my mind was beyond confused when i tried to find 5.38s for mine. Probably already know but gotta run a 10.25 gear set and my dumbass got a 10.5 install and ended up destroying a pinion.

It's interesting the things you can learn from your own mistakes.

Either 5.38 or 5.88. I have a the grizzly locker for the Dana 60 that's for 4.56 and up. I've been trying to find a reverse cut gear that's not thick, trying to avoid buying a new locker or using standard cut gears. Thanks for the tip, I would have done the same thing lol.

Some parts came in today. My 5.38 gears and install kits. I bolted on the ring gear and pressed on the new bearings for my 60. Yukon being awesome got rid of the crush sleeve on the pinion shaft, really happy about it IMG_20170329_214043229.jpg removed the axle seals and old pinion outer races. IMG_20170329_214104837.jpg IMG_20170329_214122788.jpg started on making a set of setup bearing out of old outer races. IMG_20170329_214303384.jpg

Started welding the rear truss on. After every bead I put wrapped the axle in a welding blanket so it would cool slowly. All the first passes are done. I used 6010 for the root and Tig close to the casting. I will use 7018 to finish. IMG_20170402_204232978.jpg IMG_20170402_204727110.jpg
