What your thoughts with comparing these 2 engines?

I doubt anyone here in the US has any first-hand experience with the CRD as it's a Europe only engine. You might find someone here from EU that can offer an opinion on it though.

Honestly, the Pentastar (3.6) is a pretty good engine when you compare it to the older 3.8. But it's no Hemi :D

I have a liberty with the 2.5 crd engine the smaller brother to the 2.8. It's has over 120k on the clock and drives as well as the day I picked it up. I have replaced the timing belt and other than regular oil and filter changes it has been very reliable. The torque from the engine is fantastic and it is only 4 mph slower than the old 3.7 litre petrol engine. As the 2.5 and the 2.8 as very similar I can recommend the engine for use in the Jeep Wrangler.

We have them in South Africa. nice power delivery but the are prone to a few issues after maintenance plan has expired. Injectors failing and the love of taking a piston for a ride outside the engine block. :icon_crazy:

Might be the long intervals in between services and the high heat.
