Got my cover primered and 2 coats of tractor paint. I'm hoping is dried enough tonight to slap it on.

I will update pictures when the paint sets and dries. And when I put it on.

I wanted a little project this morning. So I painted an old small shovel I had and strapped it to my high lift. Not a big mod but kept me busy with the jeep for a bit. 20170101_143325.jpg

Finally got the front diff cover in before the rain. 20170108_103611_HDR.jpg 20170108_105626.jpg 20170108_111543.jpg 20170108_111548.jpg 20170108_114713.jpg 20170108_114747.jpg 20170108_114742.jpg
One question I do have is does the wear on the ring look normal? When I did the rear it wasn't scribed on the edges like the front one is. Is it considered normal wear?

Teeth edges look chipped a little to me. Other than that, the contact pattern looks OK.

That's what I thought. I didn't see any metal chunks or shavings. Oil was just a bit metallic which I understand to be normal.

Next time you have the cover off, look back at the pinion gear. Usually a single chip on the pinion gear will cause the ring gear teeth to have multiple chips that look the same as one another. If you don't hear noise and there wasn't a lot of metal, I wouldn't think it would leave you stranded, but keep an eye on it.

Ok thank you. I haven't heard any noise before the new cover. And driving around today with new oil I haven't heard anything either.

I've seen a thread on here about towing with you jeep. And I've had a lot of people ask me if it's possible. Or when they see me towing they say "I didn't know a jeep can tow" well hey it can I did it today. The longest tow I have done. 500 miles. Not a issue in the world.....yet..... In all actuality the jeep did amazing and I couldn't be more happy with the performance. 20170114_085703_HDR.jpg 20170114_085725.jpg

Easy install. It sounds pretty good. Not as loud as I thought it would be which I am glad. Looks and felt very well built.
And a lot more clearance. I'm very happy with it so far. Lets see how it settles in.

Thank you to Frydaddy for the information. As soon as I took this little yellow plug off of the vent barb I heard a huge release of air pressure. 20170203_120500.jpg
I extended the vent tube.

And thank you to all who helped as well.
