So going off this thread, is it better to buy the stated size you're looking for, or the measured size? Has anyone been looking for 37s, measured and saw they were smaller, and gone up to 39s or something, as an example?

I'm sure you could. But I think most people just call it what it is printed on the sidewall. When you hear someone say 37s, that's what's printed in the text on the tires. I've found the manufacturer listed diameters/specs to be fairly accurate but that's with the tire off the car (no weight on it).

Most people go off advertised size to select their tires. There are a lot of variables that determine tire size, such as lift, axles, gears, etc.

One thing to keep in mind too though is that ties are measured at factory using a 10 inch wide wheel in the most cases for anything 12 wide and up. Also at 40 psi. And I bet if you put it on a 10 inch wide wheel air to forty and stand it up on the ground it is exactly what they show on the factory spec sheet.

1. Maxxis RazrMT 35X12.50-17 @ 30psi, zero miles.

2. 34" even

Side note, these are not installed on the jeep at this time. This is mounted and aired free standing.
