Please help me diagnose!!

It started today...I went to start Jeep and it hesitated slightly and then started normal. Then I was about a mile into my drive and the headlights start flickering I believe. Then I was on highway during same drive and I hear a ding like the low gas chime and then the speedometer dropped from 65 down to 45 and the engine sputtered at same time. Then was back to normal for the next 30 miles with no issues. No lights ever came on either. Any ideas?? Thanks!!

First thing I'd check is the battery and alternator.

At 8500 miles should either of them be a problem?

I wouldn't think so but that doesn't mean they weren't lemons.

You shouldn't be having any problems at 8500 miles.

So I went out and checked battery. The negative terminal didn't have a nut on it so it was easy to pop off. I have no idea if I didn't put it back on when I wired my Rigids. So I unbolted the nut from the post where I ground my Rigids and then will need to get another nut for that tomorrow. Does that sound like it was the cause??

yep loose ground will cause what you had

I'm a moron!! I've been having slight flickering lights since I installed the Rigids. Thanks for the help guys!!!
