Climb assist?

I've got a noob question coming at you from the lake. I was in 4hi and climbed a really steep hill. Only about 8 feet tall. I hit it with a llittle momentum but once I lost momentum my RPMs dropped dramatically however I pulled over the hill very steadily.. Was this some sort of climb assist feature I'm unaware of or was it just because I wasn't in 4lo?

for a steep hill, you just need to be in 4lo

Alright thanks. I watched a video and saw while going DOWN hill the jeep will engine break on its own so you don't lose control. I thought maybe it had a similar feature for for going up hill
