Wheel width

My wrangler came with brand new Hankook Dynapro AT-M P255/75R17 tires and I'd like to upgrade the wheels only.

I am wondering what wheel width I can purchase that doesn't affect safety etc.

Most of the wheels that I've looked at and like are wider than the factory wheels they are on now. Can I mount these tires on a wheels that are 8, 8.5 or 9" wide?

Thanks for your help.

Yup, anything 8"-9" will work just fine and will provide a good fit. Just try to get a set with a back spacing of about 4.5" or less as that'll give you more room in the event you get wider tires in the future.

Thanks for the info, pulled the trigger on a set (I even remembered to order one for the spare) of Procomp series 7005 8" this morning. Can't wait for them to arrive.

Will post updated pics of my girl when they arrive and are installed.
