any electrical guroo's?

When my engine heats up to normal temp, it is misfiring and I have narrowed it down the the pcm connection. The connection itself to the pcm is tight, and when i push the wires going into it it will cause the misfire, so I'm want to make sure the connections to the female plugs are solid. Anyone know how to get to the connections? It looks like I push this blue tab in on the side but it wont pull straight out. Thought I would ask before I resort to force and break something

That should be all you have to do. The white part looks like just a case and should just slide right off.
Sounds like something just isn't tight in there or is shorting when you press on it. See this problem all the time on the helicopters I work on.

Just a tip, if one of the locks is broken that holds the pin in the actually connector use some super glue on it.
This is only a temp fix though and the best bet is replacing the connector if the locks are broken
 
thanks for the tip. I hope its just the connection pins, that would make life pretty easy. haha i'm glad this is on a jeep and not a helicopter!
 
I don't know anything about electronics, but it looks like some of the pins are a lot farther out then others. When you move the blue piece to lock all the pins in place, its actually not locking the ones that are pushed out to far. I think those are touching and causing the short when it gets hot. Does that makes sense? Just thinking out loud here. You can see the pins in the rear that are significantly taller. 0624021221.jpg

It's weird it only does it when it's hot. If you try to push the long ones back in does it lock? They should all be even.
Usually pins will get pulled out to cause something like this not pushed it to far like in this case.
 
i pushed the long ones back in and they locked in place when I slid the blue locking mechanism back. I actually think maybe they got that way when I was disconnecting it, and maybe the blue slide wasnt all the way open on that side. I plugged it back in, and now am going threw all the wires individually to try and see if maybe there is a short in the wire itself where it has been bent.

It is very weird that it only does it when the engine is at normal temp. When its at normal temp and i'm driving all cylinders are firing and no problems, its just when stopped that the idle gets low, then it will drop a cylinder, save itself and fire up again. No codes either. Seems like if I cant find the exact wire might just be easiest to pick up a pcm connection off a wrecked jeep, splice, and heat shrink them back together. Thanks for the input socaldozer!
