When I did mine I used turtle wax bug and tar remover

And I also used the plasti-dip pre dip spray

It's basically ammonia and water solution

The over spray can be easily rubbed off even by hand. Just let it dry then grab a rag and you Should be good

Okay guys. I have a place on my grill that is missing the factory paint. So, my question is what is the difference between regular paint and plastidip ?Why are so many people using it ? where do you get it ? is it harder to apply ? Thanks guys

Eventually...I want to see how it looks.

Should I wax before plastidip? Some say it is good to so if you take it off later it will come off easier. But will the wax keep plastidip from sticking?

Background; I plasti dipped the silver part of my stock bumpers a short while ago- video of it is up on YouTube. Answers to a few of the questions:

What's the diff between plasti/paint? Main diff if plasti dip isn't permanent. Good for trying out new colors, dressing parts of your ride for a temporarily look, or when you know you'd want for return the item back to original paint in the future.

Will it come off later? As long as you follow proper drying times and apply at least 3-4 coats, you will be fine. Just like normal painting you want to make sure the area is clean (alcohol/spirits/etc) and dry before starting. Make sure the first coat goes on light to ensure the other coats have a good base and make sure you're on time with the second and subsequent coats @ 30 min drying intervals.

Can I wash it? Yes- mine has been through a few car washes now and is holding up after 3 weeks.

How do you get it off? Pretty much just like peeling a big sticker- start from a corner and rub/roll back a starting point then peel it back. It should all come up cleanly without leaving residue or anything behind.

goo b gone makes a vehicle bug and tar remover that I find works great. I just used that, washed with soap and water, and sprayed away....its been on for 8 months and is just now starting to peel. But I'm blaming the shitty weather for speeding it along, it started to peel after my grill was coated in 2 inches of ice.
