Just read the following on AllPar and I think it has some real merit!

Jeep Truck Spotted!!
69641

A new Jeep pickup, like the old Scrambler, has been rumored to be under development for many years, but for now, buyers have to go to an AEV Brute or opt for a similarly expensive Jeep conversion kit. With Wranglers being snapped up by buyers as fast as the Toledo plant can build them, and a completely new model due in 2016-2017, thereís little incentive for the company to divert engineering resources or space to making pickups.

That may be changing when the next-generation Wranglers arrive. Rumored to be on a long-travel independent suspension similar to the pioneering Liíl Blue project (itself based on the first-year Jeep Wagoneer), the new pickup appears to be in parallel development with Wrangler. Moving to an independent suspension could allow for production increases, as the suspension modules would be assembled off-site, freeing up space in the main plant. The Liíl Blue project provided increased mobility (compared with 1997 Wranglers) with superior on-road performance, the primary drawbacks being limited after-purchase modifications and higher cost.

Mr. Source, who captured the admittedly blurry and low-resolution photo above, wrote that an internal, unofficial source said it was definitely not an AEV Brute or past concept.

The LED bumper tail is not something they would run on test vehicle. Additionally it's a little early for a test vehicle like this to be out an about if the 16/17 timeline is accurate. I think this is likely a fake, or a custom job.

Either way.... I like the rumor :thumb:

I know it's the Gladiator pre JK.......I believe if you look at the spy pick vehicle... there are several similar features it shares with the Gladiator truck......same extra cab....front fenders with amber side lens.....body line seam just below top edge of the bed is present as well with the rear tail light located below that as well........not saying the Gladiator is exactly what it's going to look like just saying it looks like it's going to share some of it's same features

It's not blurry, you just need to indulge in 3-4 American Honey shots in quick succession.

Do you guys remember the Mopar big wigs hanging out by the fire with us next to the Dynatrac semi-truck at KOH on Friday night? I think its the gladiator pick up from 2004-2006 era! Because after talking with the head builder/designer of all the custom stuff (The Immortal, Blue Crush, Mighty FC, etc....just name one!) He was saying that he just randomly chooses one of the older vehicles, pulls it out of storage and just drives it for a week at a time :icon_crazy:

Well that's my weak theory ;)

a few friends of mine work at Chrysler, one at the windsor plant, and a few whom i graduated with work at the michigan plant, all of them in the design departments and all of them said that the main focus was nitpicking bugs in their current systems. my closest friend was just offered to join the team which designs components for the wranglers though chose to stay with the team designing the cherokees. they al drive wranglers and all of them said that they are shaping out a lot on the wranglers.

most recent was how they were working on an idle shutoff. but installing such a component adds 300lbs, so during stoplights and traffic idling the motor would electronically shut off. to compensate the weight additiion they are working on developing a full aluminum frame/underbody. only issue they are having aluminum welding means refitting machines.

So as of now it's an old concept, they said that no one is really acting on developing a pickup as of now...but then again even workers may be mislead
