Slickrock Trail Run 2012

Slickrock is one of the few trails up in the Tahoe area that we try to run at least once a year. Without a doubt, it's one of the prettiest trails around, has just enough obstacles to give even a built up Jeep a challenge, is short enough that you can do it as a day run and has wonderful camping areas that make it a great overnighter as well. A couple of weeks back, our good friends Moochie, Dave and Laura were all up in the area and, as you can guess, we decided to take them out for a run on this trail. As luck would have it, our friend Mike was back from his trip to Hawaii and was eager to join in on the fun and we were even joined by our new friend Danny who showed up in his badass WJ. Here are some pics from our trip, I hope you enjoy.

After a beautiful drive along Highway 4 and over Ebbets Pass, we stopped at the Chickaree Pinic Area along Lake Alpine to air down...

A short way into the trail, we pulled along side Silver Creek to enjoy the cool waters flowing across the granite slabs...

The first real obstacles are what we like to call the tubs and there are several different lines you can take through them ranging from easy to technical. Here's me making my run through it...

Mike with his 35's was one of the smallest in our group but, still made it through with ease...

It's always fun to see Nemo, driven by Dave here on the trail...

And Danny here making his way back out...

The next obstacle is a V-shaped trench with some boulders thrown into it. Nothing too challenging, just fun...

Here's a fun spot along the way that allows you to really get all twisted up...

This route down a large granite slab is called Slickrock - obviously, the name of the trail as well...

Not having any front lockers made this a bit tougher for Danny but, he was still able to pull it through under his own power...

Great photos!!! What a beautiful day for this run. Except for the cow pie that somebody ran over and splattered the side of their JK.

:cheesy: yeah, yeah, yeah - the worst part, that's the 2nd time i've done that doing this run.

Looks like a fun day. Wish I could have made it down that day.

it would have been nice if you had but, it was last minute and on a weekday and understandibly tough to do. we do hope to be up there again soon though so hopefully we'll catch you on another run.

Great pictures! What a fun day! Thanks for letting me tag along.

Edit: forgot I took this picture. Moochie drives so hard he literally tears up the road underneath him.
