Another airbag light thread

So after ignoring that glaring red airbag light for almost a year, it started annoying me again. I did the ignition sequence to display the "------" then what ever series of codes it has, waited, no codes popped up and then "-done-" appeared. So now I'm confused. Any insight would be of amazing assistance. I have an 11' jku. I think it's the clock spring but now I don't know what it is.

Clock spring would be my guess.

I'm thinking that too, but of there's no error code than wth? I have no other issues. Shouldn't there be some error code for the light to be on? I think it's the clock spring bc the turn signals turn off before I finish a turn and the turn signal rod is....finicky? I guess would be a good term to use

It could be one of the connections on the seat. I had that happen to me. I had to get contact cleaner and spray every one. After that it went away. I was told that the seat belt part also gets dirty in side.

I'll try this! Hopefully it works!

Why are you adverse to replacing the clockspring? I read the title of the thread, and I immediately thought, "You need a new clockspring." It's a known problem with the JK, you can get a new one for at or just under $200, and it takes 45 minutes to install.

As far as diagnosis, if the clockspring has failed you will notice issues with the horn, your steering wheel radio controls, ESP/BAS (steering wheel location sensor), and/or the airbag light.

I have never had any issues with the horn, I have the occasional loss of steering wheel radio controls, and the stupid air bag light. The only stumper is the whole no code thing. I'm certain I could replace teh clock spring with minimal issues, but I kinda wanna see if chrysler will admit the issue...:cheesy:
Ordering a Clock spring it is. haha

The reason I said, " To try and clean the connections is I had the same problem that you have and I even went to an body shop near my house. " he ran the star scan on my 2011 jeep and it said the sensors on the passenger side. He called his airbag specialist and that guy told him to do that. On jeeps it is common to get dirt in a lot of weird places. It worked for me.

Def gonna grab some connector cleaner and go to town on the connections prior to the clockspring even reaching my door step... Thanks to living on an island...

did you have to disharge the battery at all or did the light just go out?

No, the connections that were under the seat. All I did was disconnect and spray them. I even sprayed in the seat belt part since there are sensors there to. It cost me only I believe was $9.00 dollars for the cleaner. It nearly cost me a trip. Good luck and let me know if that was the problem.

Since I've had my Jeep a year now,my light has come in and cleared numerous times. People kept saying clock spring, WRONG!!! The air bag module was faulted from the factory. Dealership hooked up the computer, and it said remote air bag module. After one "new" one from another dealership, which was also faulty, and no replacement, I now have no airbags functioning. After a few phone calls, the dealership has no answer on when good modules will be available. So, just because you have an airbag light, doesn't mean a clock spring. No steering wheel functions should work(radio, cruise control, etc). I'm just giving another possible cause

My hunk of JK is out of warranty (bumper to bumper) so it'll cost me at leats $180 for the dealer to just hook up the computer. It's such a scam.

Have you tried having the local auto parts store hook up their code scanner and see if it sees anything? sometimes they help and since free no hurt in trying. If not the starscan can read much more but the dealers do charge you a pretty penny just to scan the dang thing.

That is illegal in Hawaii... Stupid state. and My jeep isn't throwing any codes when I do the ignition key cycle deal.... No DTC codes or anything
