What CB and where did you put it?

This may have been discussed already but after a couple searches came up empty. Have the Cobra 29 LX BT and looking for location options. Above Mirror? On top of Dash? Glove Box?

Pros/Cons? Setbacks you encountered during the install? This will be my first CB install so the more info the better.

I have a uniden 510 with a four foot fire stick. Mounted using pipe hangers over my rearview mirror, and the antenna mounted on the spare. Put it there because it is a convenient location that is out of the way, but I can still operate it while driving.

I have a Cobra 25 Night Watch Limited Edition. It's mounted next to my shifter.
Had it installed by a CB Shop.

Just ordered the uniden pro505xl. $40 on amazon. Nothing fancy but great reviews and it's small and compact. It's probably going in the center console or by the gear shifter.

I was thinking above the rear view so it's out of the way but still accessible. Drawback could be it blocking my view out the back, well what's left of it or the mic cord bouncing around.

Anyone put it under their seat or? Once it's tuned and on the channel how often do you adjust something while on the trail?

Ill take a pic tomorrow, however, the radio does not block my view and when I'm not using it the cord just wraps around my mirror and is out of yhe way.

As I promised. Let me know if you have any questions. The very first pic is from my eye level looking out of the rearview mirror to show that it doesn't block my view.

I have a 2014 JK with a Cobra 29 over the mirror using a Strike Force Zebra mount.

It is very tight due to the bigger mirror, it touches the mirror and touches the top plastic. You can adjust your mirror but only to a certain point. Mine is fine for visibility (I like to look at my spare tire :D ) but it can not be adjusted any higher. You will need to shim up the radio bracket to get it as high as possible.

You will need a 90 degree coax connector to clear the windshield.

I mounted a Uniden xl520 in the glovebox and routed the mic cord through the latch. Put an external speaker in the roll bar padding behind the drivers left ear. I like it so far, I just turn it on before we hit the trail, set squelch, ch., vol., etc. and close the glovebox door. Out of the way and always have a copilot if it needs to be adjusted but so far with a firestik, it is a really good radio and haven't needed to reach in to adjust anything til we're off the trail to turn it off. Tried to mount a larger Uniden Bearcat in there but wasn't going to work without removing some dash support material which I didn't want to do.

I mounted my 19 to the plastic above the rear veiw. It's not heavy enough to bug me. But if I ever get anything bigger I'll have to fab up a bracket of some sort

I am using a Cobra 75WXST. I think it is the cleanest way to install the CB. I installed the main unit under the dash. All of the controls are within the mic. I had it tuned by a professional radio shop and it performs without problems.
