First Brazilian Renegade produced

The first prototype Brazilian Jeep Renegade has been built, with mass production slated for the first quarter of 2015. This version of the small crossover, which shares many aspects with the Fiat 500X but has upgraded off-road capabilities, has engine choices including Neon-2.0-based 1.8 liter E.torQ four-cylinder.

The Renegades sold in the United States will be built in Italy, and will come with the 2.4 liter four-cylinder engine only. European Renegades will also have the Fiat Multijet diesels available. A bewildering array of engines and transmissions will be used depending on the country and drive setup (front wheel drive, and various all wheel drive systems). As with Cherokee, only the top Trailhawk model comes with off-road necessities such as skid plates and greater ground clearance.

Diesel versions will have all wheel drive with electronic differential locks. A flex-fuel version will be sold in front wheel drive with a manual transmission. Pricing is unknown at this time.

Published clearance angles and dimensions of the Renegade Trailhawk are equal or superior to those of Cherokee Trailhawk, but Jeep has refused to run Renegade on the Rubicon Trail, citing insufficient engine torque.
