So my question is if I cut out my stock muffler on my 08 2 dr JK would it effect my jeeps performance or gas mileage would there be any negative effects?

The sound gets annoying and depending on where you live, it may be illegal. I don't think you would see any performance increase. Maybe the opposite with the lack of back pressure.

I took mine off just to see what it sounds like. Its sounds like crap when you get into high Rpms. But I also have a 2013 so I don't know if it be the same sound for a fact.

X2 on the loss of low end torque which is crucial to off road performance. Properly tuned straight pipes will increase HP a little on the very top end, but that's it. I'd replace the stock muffler with a good one from Dynomax, Flowmaster or any reputable manufacturer. You'll get good sounds and small improvements in power. That's about the best you can hope for these days.:twocents:
