Reno area the weekend of the 23rd

Hey all. A buddy and I will be heading up towards the Reno area with a quick stop at Cabelas and are looking for a road less travel afterwards. We haven't decided to just party in the area or head to the hills to find a nice out of the way camp spot.
It would be great if the road was know to be open and ended at an alpine lake for some fishing as well.
Does anybody know of a cool spot close to Reno?

I'm not sure what the winter camping situation is, but you can head up into the mountains on Dog Valley Road very close to Cabelas. From there you can hit Stampede, Bocha, and Prosser Resevoirs.

Thanks Sharkey. That sounds like a nice trip. We are also looking at Black Rock Desert. Have you ever traveled up to this area at all? I know it's not very difficult as far as wheeling goes but it looks like a nice spot with lots of history.
