Skid plate?

Hey folks. In the market for a solid skid plate to protect the transmission and oil pan. I have it narrowed down to the MORE and Evo Protek. Do any of you guys have experience with one or the other. The MORE is 100 bucks cheaper, but looks like it covers less surface area. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

I have the evo on both jeeps. No complaints. Does the more protect the exhaust loop?

What about Rock Hard 4x4's skid as another option? Covers a large area and is similarly priced to EVO.

Thanks for the suggestion sassmouth!

Here's the skinny on ours:
  • Available in 3/16" steel or 1/4" aluminum
  • Mounts AWAY from motor so no vibrations are transferred to skid plate
  • Works with aftermarket cross members
  • Available for long or short arm suspension
  • Powder coat included
  • Oil change access door (all ship with this redesign)
  • Bolt head protectors included
  • 100% Made in the USA
  • 100% bolt on, no drilling or cutting required

It looks like coverage is your biggest concern for your oil pan and transmission - here's a shot of ours installed where you can see it provides total coverage:

Does the rock hard protect the crossmember as well as the Evo skid ? The only issue I had with the Evo skids was after lifting my jeep and installing exhaust spacers my crossmember skid would not mount due to the lowered exhaust interfering with the control arm mount point

We bolt to the factory crossmember and include a shim plate to help space down our plate where it covers the exhaust cross over. We offer an additional shim plate as some suspension systems space the cross over down further than others. There's no set list of what suspension systems seem to space down more than others but with AEV we see more frequent requests for an additional shim beyond the one we include.

To answer your question and make a long story short - with lowered exhaust cross over pipes yes, our skid plate is still compatible.

I'm wanting to get your oil pan skid but as of right now I have short control arms but plan on going long arm with in the next couple of months. What's the difference in the 2 skids & will the long arm skid plate work with the short arm? Thanks.
