View Full Version : WAYALIFE Last Chance Canyon Newbie Run

Because we've all been newbies at one point and time and we've all had a lot to learn, Cindy and I like to do a newbie run once a year to help teach the basics to people who are new to the world of Jeeps and them out on the trail. Last Chance Canyon is where we typically like to do this as it is short enough and has just the right amount of obstacles to help someone learn how to use their Jeep off-road. Of course, being that there's so much more to what we consider "the Jeep WAYALIFE" than just driving over stuff, we always make sure to throw in a bit of sightseeing, history and camping out under the stars.

In this short video presentation, you'll get to see all the fun we have on our most recent WAYALIFE Last Chance Canyon Newbie run. I hope you enjoy what you see and if you're new to the world of Jeeps, I hope you'll join us on our next run.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6eajyzxS78

To help celebrate the release of our WAYALIFE Last Chance Canyon Newbie Run video, we will be giving away an "Eat, Sleep, Jeep" WAYALIFE T-Shirt* to one lucky member of this forum. To WIN, all you have to do is post up on this thread. A winner will be selected at random and announced this Wednesday, April 8th. Good luck to all of you!

Picked totally at random, the WINNER of the WAYALIFE T-Shirt is....

So cool...it's awesome you put on things like this for the new Jeepers. Thanks for all you do and thanks for the awesome videos.

Great video! I appreciate the opportunity offered for the newbie run. Everyone was extremely helpful. I think Overlander had to go over the tire thing with me for the first three tires. Finally figured it out on the last tire! Eddie, Cindy and the rest of the experienced crew were extremely patient and actually worked their asses off! Wayalife is a great group of people! Proud to have been part of this run!

Thanks again Eddie.

Cool video. Finally saw Overlander on a trail ;) It's great to have stuff like this.

A quick question Eddie, I recently went to a Camp Jeep experience and I assume people bring their own rigs and volunteer to help out. I'm thinking it would be pretty sick to have RubiCat or even Moby at such an event showing people what a "real" Jeep can do. Is that a thing you could do?

RyanAZ
04-06-2015, 03:52 AM
Looks like a great learning experience! When I first saw your vids I thought you were crazy for climbing the rocks you do. Now I can't wait to get mine built to join the fun! Keep up the awesome work, you can really feel how this has become community.

Another great video from Eddie and Cindy. If there are any other newbies out there that are even thinking of making the next newbie run my only advice is to do WHATEVER you have to do to make it.

Eddie, Cindy and their team of helpers went so far and above to really make this one special for all of us newbies. The information I learned and the friends I made will stay with me forever. Thank you to Wayalife for everything that you are and do, I look forward to going out on many more runs, camping trips and anything else you all are involved in

Awesome video. I would like to attend next years event. I am not new to off-roading but still new to my Jeep JKU. Next month will be my 1 year anniversary owning a Jeep JKU. I have refrained from doing any upgrades since purchasing and getting to know how my stock vehicle handles. I have wheeled my Jeep on numerous occasions to learn it's characteristics and capability. I have enjoyed Wayalife's videos and forums (Wayalife and ToasterJeep) and would like to be a contributing member in the future. Thank you Eddie.

As an old guy newbie with limited experience wheeling, I found this vid to be very encouraging. It can be somewhat intimidating seeing all of the huge rigs going through impossible passes. Thanks for this. Very cool for you to do this. It inspires me to try more....

I ran my stock Rubicon without using lockers, just the sway bar disconnect. Eddie and everyone that helped out give you great lines through the obstacles so I would think it can be done in your stock Sahara. That is just my opinion though. There are a lot more experienced people here that could give you a more knowledgeable answer.

I drove a stock 85 CJ7 on the run in 4 hi. (Transfer case was only turning the front axle in 4 low) If I can do it in that, surely you can in a modern Sahara.

The trail has changed quite a bit over the last year. I was surprised how difficult some obstacles got when I ran it last October. There are still some bypasses, but even the bypass for Graduation Hill changed a bit. I am sure a stock Cherokee can make it with a good spotter and a few "abrasions" on the undercarriage.

Can't find another place to ask this question so figured thus is the best spot. On the latest videos I see some of the guys have a skid at the ram on the hydro assist , is thus purchasable or is it a custom piece

I do that trail almost once a month since I live 30 miles from there. last group i had consist of an early 90s bronco(the low street looking one) and '87 s-10 pickup in stock form, and a stock isuzu trooper and more capable built up rigs as well. they all did fine. It's a good trail to learn on, it has variety and one gnarly obstacle known as the V-notch.

The only one I can think of that had that skid was Eddie and Cindy on this run. You can buy it from ORE but it is only for a dynatrac PR60.

Great video. Have to chime in like all the others. Would love to do one of these runs. Wouldn't be my first drive across the country.
I've had my jeep for 2 years now. Most I've done is some dirt trails with bumps.
Totally new to this way of life. Want to gain experience from those that know what they are doing.
