Needless to say, I've never really take Gumby on the trails or beat him up, the worst he's seen is gravel roads.. With that said why in the world would this bend? Anyone seen it before? Not a happy camper..

Are you sure your SS is set to correctly and/or has enough travel? It looks to me like you ran out of travel turning to the driver's side and you are pulling the bracket when turning sharply.

Kinda agree with jnabird, and this doesn't happen often. But looks to be bent where the ss bolt is.
I'd take the boot off and check
