Did you just drill the brocket onto the plastic section ?

No I used two brackets similar to this.

I'm on my phone and can't find a good picture but when I get home I will look for one.

It does fine for now but I am going to be fabbing up a bracket soon to hold it better.

Found a picture of what I used to mount it. Not the best picture but it all I have.

Very nice!!! I was just trying to figure out how to mount it off that hook.

Thank you!

When you do it make sure you have enough slack in your wires. Like hook up the cb in the location you want and pull the wires before putting the windshield trim and a pills trim back on. I didn't and then had to pull it all back out again.

As for the coaxial cable I ran that over to the a pillar then inside the padding down the roll bar under the lip on the tub by the rear seat and out the tailgate through the rubber grommet. I opted for this versus the floorboard route just in case I end up going through deep water. Not that it would really matter unless I had a rip in the line but I thought it was easier to follow the roll bar also. I can take more pictures on Saturday morning but I think you guys get the idea.

well hey now, that's pretty damn nifty - i like it!! :thumb:

I saw the project jk one but when I went to the hardware store I couldn't find the stuff. Saw those and thought I would try it and it actually worked pretty well.

It's pretty sturdy for what it is. When I was out at truck haven last week it didn't move all that much. It's not going to be that way forever but it works well for now.

Had this made at a fabrication metal shop. Fits between front and rear roll bar on JKU.

I was looking for a similar solution, so I'm having a piece of 3/16" x 8" wide aluminum made to go in the same place. I thought bout buying the ORFab JEEP JK 4 DOOR SPORT CAGE REAR STREAMER BAR and mounting a piece of aluminum below it, similar to yours, but didn't want it hanging that low. I may still go there if I decide I need the roll cage later.

I have a Cobra 148GTL CB, and an ICOM 7000 (with control pieces for the Tarheel screwdriver antenna) that I intend to mount back there. Not enough weight to affect the 3/16" aluminum. if it does, I might tack it to a streamer like your design. Good Job

I have a 2012 2dr with a cobra 29 and was wondering if it is possible and feasible to attach a cb antenna in place of stock radio antenna?
I have an aftermarket radio which I do not use the radio and have the stock antenna disconnected.
Was not sure what the best place to mount the cb antenna which I have yet to purchase as I am still researching.
I will most likely mount the cb above the mirror.
Any ideas and tips and best parts to get would be helpful.
Thanks

I have this exact setup. I have the daystar dash part also. After a trail ride I remove the radio and stock dash and install the daystar in its place and just tuck the power and antenna cables behind the dash.

Me too, just moved it from the side of the console the other night, we'll see how I like it up there

Have you tought about buying a cobra 75 wt? It's a smaller unit that will be virtually invisible except for the mic. They make tons of kits and antenna mounts as well. Here's a link to one of them
