Small fan by ignition key?

While looking for coins that fell down my front dash in my 2014 JKU, I noticed there is a small vent just below the ignition on the right. The "vent" opening is about the size of a quarter. When I take off the lower dash panel, I notice that it is just a small micro fan, that runs when the ignition is on. It doesn't really seem to blow much air. What could be the purpose of this?

I believe that it is the temperature sensor for the automatic climate control. Might be wrong though if you don't have that option...

Yup, it's for the auto climate control
