I have a pair of Aussies as well and yours are good looking dogs! Anyway I run the soft top without windows all the time and I have also removed the rear seat and what I did was cut the handle off of 2 6' leashes, slip the ends under a footman loop, one on the drivers side and the other on the passenger side. I then tied a series of knots with a steel ring in the middle to keep it from pulling out. My dogs can stick their heads out of the window and get one paw on the fender flare and that's about it.
In 3 years of doing this I have never lost a dog, had one jump head over heels once and just kind of hang there till I got out and put her back. She was barking at another dog and we were going about 10mph so no harm no foul. Should have seen her face, it was like "WTF did I just do?" LOL
There are companies that make net kits but most use the window channel but one company, Booty Nets, attaches to the roll bars. Might check them out but I will warn you, if you enter booty net (without the S) you will get a porn site! YIKES
I'd like to go topless. I have two 80lb aussie collie mixes. How do you guys keep your dogs in the jeep?
I feel like spiderweb shades all around would help but it would make it almost like a mesh soft top so idk
A buddy has this and it is great for his young children but the dogs won't be able to stick their heads into the wind and you know they love to do that!
My friend says it really helps keep his kids cooler.
We use a specially designed car harness made by Kurgo. It's got a short tether on the dogs back that has a caribiner which attaches to a latched seat belt. The dog has plenty of room to move around but is restrained from jumping out of the vehicle or from becoming a missile in the event of a collision. They're not too expensive considering the safety of your dogs either. Check out the website and the video. It was the video that really sold me on the product. Other harnesses use plastic latches but this one uses metal and is fully adjustable for your dogs comfort.

Hope this helps.
you should watch the actual testing done by an independent outfit on the top harnesses, the kurgo carabiner is not as strong as you think:
